In the space of forty-eight hours on 8 and 9 April 1830, no less than three vessels were wrecked on Stroma. The Thetis while on a voyage from Hull to Quebec, struck on the south end of Stroma during thick fog and subsequently sank.
The previous evening the schooner, Edina, sank on the west of the island and on the same day as the Thetis the Aesceili and Anna sank on the north end of Stroma. All three vessels crews were saved with difficulty.
