This Konigsberg steamer stranded on the Skerry of Stroma. A letter written from on board the vessel by James Bremner the Lloyd's agent at Canisbay reads as follows:
Skerry of Stroma, Pentland Firth
7th July 1853.
On board the Steamer Vessel "Stettin" of Konigsberg.
Stranded.
The above vessel struck on the Skerry of Stroma, I have examined the master's Chart carefully and find that the ledges are not laid down in it, and during the past 40 years I have known more than 50 sail of vessels damaged and discharged.
There should be a beacon erected on this dangerous reef, I have often spoken of it.
