This Marstal registered schooner was built of oak in 1907 and was 76 Registed tons.
The Pampa left Thurso at 21.00hrs on 4th July on a journey to Dysart in ballast. She was at first assisted by a pilot and tug who quit at around 21.30hrs. The wind was NW with a fresh breeze but changed to NNE at 22.00hrs and then the wind went down completely and the ship was now at the power of the swell and brought ashore against land at Dunnet Head. On 5th July at 7am the lead showed 18 Fathoms of water whereupon the master ordered the anchor thrown over the starboard side The anchor was made clear, but before it was thrown some skerries were observed close astern of the ship so the crew soon left the ship in the dinghy. The Pampa was soon after brought onto the the skerries where she became wrecked. The crew landed at Thurso.
