4 June 1930

wrecks
This Grimsby trawler (GY 898), homeward bound, struck on Piggy Skerry on the west side of Swona. The skipper drowned while they were trying to lay out a kedge anchor with their own boat. The crew were afterwards rescued by Swona fishermen. The trawler slid off the rocks and sank in deep water.

The Lord Percy was built in 1911. She was 36m long by 7m wide and 215 gross tons.
