Cudweed

This Inverness registered steam trawler (INS 229), sank one mile off Wick towards Noss Head.  She was under tow by the Steam Drifter, Marigold, (INS 478).

Possible position 58 28N, 03 02W.

She was built in 1911 by Stephen of Banff for A.Souter, J.Reid & A.Reid of Lossiemouth.  No.132779, her length was 80'.00, breadth 18'.00, depth 8'.10.  Engine was 16" compound by Miller & McGee of Glasgow, 26 nominal horse power.  She was 68 gross registered tons, 32 tons net.

She had been requisitioned for war service in 1915-1919 and used as a transport vessel and fitted with a 3-pounder gun.
