The third Aberdeen trawler lost within the month of March 1928. During the war she had served as a boom defence vessel and was again sold in 1922 this time to George Craig of Aberdeen. She ran ashore in fog a quarter of a mile west of Spear point behind Holburn Head, Scrabster. Her crew of 10 were reported safe after being landed by a local boat.
The Ben Rinnes (A 488) became a total wreck. Position 58 37 33N, 03 33 75W.
She was 183 tons gross and built in 1901 by Hall Russels of Aberdeen for the North British Steam Fishing Co. Ltd. Later Richard Irvin and Sons Ltd who sold her in 1912 to Thomas Davidson of Aberdeen. She was steel built and her dimensions were 108' x 21' x 12' 4.5".
