April 1846

wrecks
During a fierce storm the sloop Anna was driven ashore at Wick and wrecked.  Despite the huge waves which were pounding onto the beach, James Wishart waded out into the foaming surf and succeeded in rescuing the mate from the sloop, an act of bravery for which he was awarded a Silver Medal by the RNLI.
