This Lossiemouth seine-net boat had a rather unlucky life as she was rammed in October 1962 by a Russian vessel in the early hours of the morning and damaged below the water-line. The Wick seine-net boat Boy Andrew was first on the scene, followed by the lifeboat and other vessels who assisted the Acorn to Wick. The Russian had disappeared in the fog without making any attempt to help the Acorn.
At the end of her life the Acorn was tied up at Wick River mouth, near the fire station, in preparation for scrapping, when a huge south-easterly gale struck and she broke her ropes and was driven under the Wick River Service bridge. She completely smashed up, becoming a total wreck. She was at the time without wheelhouse and masts.
